They just dont get it.......

BURNING MAD: When Alton Verm of Conroe, Texas, saw the book his 15-year-old daughter brought home from Caney Creek High School, he wasoutraged. "It's just all kinds of filth," Verm said. It includes suchinflammatory words as "damn" and "hell", and Verm has filed a "Requestfor Reconsideration of Instructional Materials" with the ConroeIndependent School District. He happened to file it during the AmericanLibrary Association's Banned Book Week. "I want to get the book takenout of the class," he said. The book: Ray Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451",a 1953 novel about a dystopian society where books are banned andburned, freedom of speech is restricted, and critical thought issuppressed. But Verm wouldn't know: he admits he hasn't read the book.(Conroe Courier)

BURNING IRONY II: Harrisonburg (Va.) High School had a display of bannedor "challenged" books to provoke thought about the American LibraryAssociation's annual Banned Books Week. "Had" is the key word here:Harrisonburg Schools Superintendent Donald Ford ordered the displayremoved, since it might encourage students to read them. Books in thedisplay included Twain's "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "TheAdventures of Huckleberry Finn", Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451", "TheDiary of Ann Frank" -- and the Bible. (Harrisonburg Daily News-Record)

well done virginia and texas. i cant believe in this day and age tha t we are talking about banning books. this isnt the middle ages kids. let the religious faithful go to church and everyone else can go to a library. lets see which fills up first. let me say, as a parent, that if your children are influenced so completely by a book or a movie or a band then you arent doing your job as a parent. if you dont like these books then forbid your children to read them but dont tell me or my family what we can and cannot read. the religious right isnt the majority...it just is the loudest. the religious right should stick to what they do best....hating women and gays and jews. they seem to be the holy trinity of hate. every kid should be forced to read farenheit 451. it may stop them from being so easily influenced by things like music or groups or.......the church.

isnt it refreshing that fox has pulled the plug on o.j. i think he should have been allowed to tell how he murdered two people. i wouldnt have watched but he should be allowed. i'm not sure why fox pulled the plug seeing as this was going to be a ratings smash. maybe no advertisers wanted to go within a mile of this steaming pile. anyone who is shocked that fox would show this doesnt remember a group of midgets vs. an elephant or whatever they were running a couple of years ago. remember when fox was catching hell for the simpsons. now its their most respectable show.

enjoy your tuesday everyone.
