Crocodile Hunter's Son Bitten By Baby Boa

NEW YORK -- Could it be another crocodile hunter in training?
Robert Irwin, the 4-year-old son of "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin wasn't at all alarmed when he was recently bitten by a baby boa constrictor, according to his mother.
Irwin's widow, Terri, said Monday at an appearance at FAO Schwarz with her two children that he picked one of them up and it bit him on the finger. She said he was so proud to have "copped his first hit."
He said, 'I hope it wasn't venomous,' so I assured Robert I wouldn't actually let him play with venomous snakes," she added.
Terri Irwin said the couple's 9-year-old daughter, Bindi, was first bitten by a snake when she was 18 months old.
Bindi Irwin was in New York signing action figure toys of her late father as the family promoted a new line of toys.
Steve Irwin, known through his nature television series as a wrangler of crocodiles and snakes, died in 2006 from a stingray's barbed tail during an underwater documentary shoot. He was 44.

what a proud family moment. i remember writing here that steve irwin was irresponsible with animals, that he didnt respect them. make no mistake...he didnt. now his kids dont either. what a way to teach them. i hope there is no crying when one of the kids eats it.

Research Shows More Women Committing Suicide

There was shocking news Monday about the number of women committing suicide. The numbers are way up, according to new research.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention looked at the nation's death rates between 1999 and 2004 and found an unusually large jump in suicides among middle-age Americans, especially women.
The latest research says in a five-year period, suicides in the 45 to 55 age group climbed 31 percent.
In Pittsburgh Four Allegheny Center in the North Side, people come three to four times a week to sort out their lives. There, they find they are not alone and there are solutions to their pain, and suicide is not the answer to crisis.
"We reach out to them and make sure they know that there are things that can be done to help them feel better so they don't have to get to the point where these kinds of options seem to make sense to them," said director of intensive psychiatric day treatment, Dr. Nancy Kennedy.
New research suggests there is more reason to reach out to the nation's middle- age Americans than ever before. According to the CDC, the suicide rate among 45- to 54-year-olds increased almost 20 percent from 1999 to 2004, which was the latest year studied.
But the rate for 15- to 19-year-old climbed less than 2 percent in the same period and actually dropped among those 65 and older. But the rate among women 45 to 54 shot up 35 percent.
But why? Experts said they believe women in that age group have specific stressors peculiar to women in that age group.
The stress of living and coping with life in today's world is not about to end, and experts said the suicide rate might continue to climb. So it's important to watch out for unusual changes among middle-age people, including drinking alone, withdrawing to themselves and loss of interest in things they once enjoyed. It requires careful observation and a willingness to reach out and help.

ladies, welcome to equality. how do you like it so far?

Pregnant Woman Attacks Bartender Who Cut Her Off; Plea Reached

BEAVER, Pa. -- A pregnant Beaver County woman accused of smashing a beer bottle against a bartender's head after she was told she couldn't order any more drinks at a Rochester bar agreed to plead guilty Tuesday.
Police said Keisharra Abercrombie, 30, who is six months pregnant, assaulted Ricki Shields, 39, early Saturday morning at Squires Municipal Grill on Adams Street after being told she shouldn't be drinking.
Shields said she noticed Abercrombie was pregnant and told her she wouldn't serve her any more alcohol. According to the police report, Abercrombie got mad and hit Shields with a beer bottle and glass, ripping part of shield's ear off. She needed 28 stitches and plastic surgery to put it together again.
Abercrombie, of Rochester, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of aggravated assault in exchange for charges of simple assault, harassment and reckless endangerment being dropped.
Prosecutors said Abercrombie would be sentenced to six months of probation and won't have to serve any jail time.
Abercrombie's defense attorney said he was pleased with the deal, but Shields said she was not happy that Abercrombie would be let out of jail, likely within 24 hours.
Abercrombie's attorney said she's a nursing student who just wants to get on with her life.
"And wants to make it clear that this isn't a situation where she went in like a raving lunatic looking for a problem," said defense attorney Steven Valsamidis. "There was a verbal altercation escalating to a physical altercation resulting in injury."
Shields said she's not afraid to tend bar again, but is not entirely happy with the plea agreement.
"As far as the probation, I'm not comfortable with that, and she's going to be back on the street, and the only thing that's good is if anything happens again, she will have the felony charge underneath her belt, and she'd go to jail," said Shields.
As part of the plea agreement, Abercrombie is prohibited from returning to the bar where the incident occurred.
Abercrombie, who's been in jail since the incident, was scheduled to be released on bail Tuesday. The court appearance at which time she's expected to make her guilty plea and get probation is scheduled for April 11.

what a pleasant memory for the child. i hope she puts the newspaper clippings in the babies scrapbook. you can almost here her snuggling up and telling her retarded child how she was carrying it when she got in a drunken rage and ripped off part of the bartenders ear. wont that be lovely.

For the love of God, get it on!

Pastor tells married couples to make time for hanky-panky every day

YBOR CITY, Fla. - A southwest Florida church issued a challenge for its married members this past Sunday: Hanky-panky every day. Relevant Church head pastor Paul Wirth says the 50 percent divorce rate was the catalyst for The 30-Day Sex Challenge.
"And that's no different for people who attend church," Wirth said. "Sometimes life gets in the way. Our jobs get in the way."
Oh, and the flip side of the challenge? No rolling in the sheets for the unwed.Church member Tim Jones and his fiancée agreed to take on the challenge, though he acknowledges it'll be a tough month. But he added: "I think it's worth trying to find out other things about each other."

i'm guessing tim and fiancee will be failing this test.

Wife speaks out about pancake fight

An unusual story of domestic violence involving an Oklahoma City couple and pancakes has sparked an emotional response from a number of NEWS 9 viewers and the alleged victim.
Last week NEWS 9 reported the arrest of a Jacob Laws who police said attacked his wife for making a batch of bad pancakes. His wife, Jessica Laws, said she was attacked, but it wasn't because of her cooking.
"When you argue and fight things can escalate," she said. "You're mad about this, but then the 15 other things you're mad about get brought into that and that is exactly what happened."
Jessica Laws said a comment about her cooking is what started an argument between her and her husband, but the pancake flap isn't what led up to a physical confrontation between the two.
"It wasn't about pancakes," she said. "It wasn't about breakfast. It had nothing to do with that part of it."
Jessica Laws declined to comment on what the fight was actually about. Police cited the breakfast debacle as the motive for Jacob Laws attacking and choking his wife of just one year.
The arrest was mentioned during a NEWS 9 newscast that focused on domestic violence in Oklahoma.
Jessica Laws said she "bawled" when she saw it.
"It's been a hard situation all around and for it to be publicized," she said. "I wish it would have never been because this is a private matter."
Jessica said the publicity of her husband's arrest could keep other domestic violence victims in the dark, for fear that their stories also will be thrown into the spotlight.
"It's not right," Jessica Laws said. "I know that it's not, but he has to get help."
A spokesman for the YWCA said exposure of such violence is a positive thing, because it shows victims they're not alone.
Jacob Laws was arrested on complaints of domestic abuse and assault and battery. He remained in jail Sunday night.

a bad batch of pancakes? is this any reason to go to jail? way to go jacob

Thief steals urinal sensor for Mercedes

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- A young mechanic, Wang Chi-sheng, is suspected of stealing a urinal sensor, which he said he planned to use to modify a Mercedes Benz car.
Wang has been accused of trespassing for entering a closed-down gas station restroom and stealing the heat sensors used on the urinals. Police escorting Wang stated that they laughed as they listened to his plan to use the sensors to test out his latest designs for improving a Mercedes Benz car.
The Taiwan Mercedes' technicians department said the young man's scheme was "unbelievable," commenting that "the probability of successfully using a sensor from a public urinal to replace special factory-made sensors was and remains zero."
What's more, the technicians explained the thief's actions are quite dangerous, and could even lead to creating an electric current that leads to the engine, which would cause it to ignite and possibly even explode.

isnt having a mercedes enough? do you really need to reach into a piss filled urinal to make it better? maybe those cars arent all they are cracked up to be.....

Woman 'high' at time of sex act with boy

Middletown woman accused of transmitting to teen chlamydia.

MIDDLETOWN — A Middletown woman accused of transmitting chlamydia to a 13-year-old boy said she was under the influence of illegal drugs when friends talked her into the act, a detective testified on Friday, Feb. 15, in Middletown Municipal Court.
Tabitha Hollandsworth, 20, is charged with unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, a felony. She appeared for a preliminary hearing before Judge Mark Wall, who had her case bound over to a Butler County grand jury. Middletown police Detective Fred Shuemake, who conducted the investigation, said that last September, the 13-year-old, as well as a 15-year-old boy and an unidentified adult male had been at an apartment with Hollandsworth.
"They were all there to have sex," Shuemake testified.
The younger teen's grandparents reported the incident Sept. 30 after the boy complained of difficulty urinating and was diagnosed with the sexually transmitted disease, which is treatable with antibiotics.
The boy had not known Hollandsworth's last name, so it took some time to figure out who the suspect was, Shuemake said.
But once he showed the boy an array of photographs of Hollandsworth and five similar looking women, Shuemake said he immediately identified Hollandsworth.
Shuemake said when he interviewed her about the September incident, Hollandsworth told him "some friends had talked her" into having sex with the boys and that she was "high at the time on crack."
Hollandsworth is free on a $15,000 bond.
this chick is cute. i was going to say how lucky the kid was, that was until she gave him chlamydia. this kid learned a hard lesson very early in life.

The following were taken from Bainbridge police reports.

Feb. 15Young drinkers: Police located a vehicle on Agatewood Road that matched the description of vehicle used in a recent theft at a Suquamish store. The 18-year-old driver appeared intoxicated but denied that he’d consumed alcohol. An 18 year-old passenger admitted she’d been drinking. She said she was feeling sick after an officer noted the vomit on her shirt. She also told police that the beer they consumed was stolen. Police took the driver, a Poulsbo resident, to the police station after arresting him for possession of alcohol under the age of 21. He was belligerent toward police, calling them insulting names and telling them they had “low level jobs.” He also dropped his pants and told police his penis “was nothing special.” He was cited and released to his parents.

you have to like a man who knows his limitations. the police said that after further review ...he was right.

they should have drove him out to the woods and put a bullet in he back of his head. yes, of course, while he masturbated. the gene pool needs a skimmer run through it.....

$140k in cash stolen from Tyson chair

, Ark. - A college student was arrested in the theft of a briefcase containing more than $140,000 from the home of the chairman of meat processing giant Tyson Foods Inc., police said.
Ryan Silvey, 19, was arrested in Olathe, Kan., by the FBI Fugitive Task Force, the Johnson Police Department said. He was taken back to Arkansas to answer a theft charge and was being held in lieu of $50,000 bond Saturday at the Washington County jail.
The briefcase was stolen during a party thrown by John Tyson's daughter at the family's home in Johnson around Dec. 27 without his knowledge or consent, police said. Silvey and another friend were uninvited guests who acted suspicious while looking around the house, police said.
Tyson reported the theft Jan. 2, saying he had collected the money over time and had it hidden in the house.
"I regret this happened and it saddens me, but I'm very grateful to our local police team for all the great work they did to get this resolved," Tyson said in statement. "I have certainly learned a lesson through this ordeal and will never leave cash in my house again."
Police say they have recovered some of the money.
The jail did not have any attorney information for Silvey, who is the son of Steve Silvey, head track coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The senior Silvey was the assistant sprint coach at University of Arkansas from 1994 through 2000.
Silvey said he heard about the arrest Saturday morning and was "very disappointed, very shocked." Ryan Silvey lives with his mother in Fayetteville, Ark., he said. "We're not very close," he said.
Another man, Logan Lorenz, 23, was arrested on a theft charge and released Friday, police said. Police say they are still seeking Bryce Kelly Anderson, 19.
It was not clear whether either man had an attorney. An officer at the Johnson Police Department referred questions Saturday to Detective Denny Upton, who could not be reached for comment.
Tyson, 54, took over as Tyson's chairman in 1998 and was chief executive from 2001 to 2006. He led the 2001 merger with meatpacking giant IBP Inc. that made Tyson Foods the world's largest meat processor.

does anyone care to know what this guy was doing with a briefcase full of cash in the first place? no? just me, huh? ok.......

Ex-Homecoming Queen Beats Sister With Fake Leg In Trailer

NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. - A former homecoming queen is facing a slew of charges Thursday, accused of attacking her sister with a prosthetic leg and then threatening to burn down a neighbor's home. Not long after graduating from Norwin High School, drama began for Donna Sturkie-Anthony.
The ex-homecoming queen had two DUI convictions in Allegheny County in 1991. One was in Rankin, where police said she was so drunk she smeared her feces in the back of a police car. Anthony married and moved away in the late 1990s. But when she returned, she was arrested another half dozen times by North Huntingdon police, most recently last month.
Police said Anthony's sister came to visit her at her Route 30 trailer, and the two started arguing about her alcohol abuse. Then, police said Anthony pulled off her sister's prosthetic leg and beat her with it.
A month later, police said, Anthony stole her neighbor's telephone and then threatened to burn down their trailer if they testified against her.
In another incident, police said Anthony threw ground meat at her neighbor before she threatened to kick his pregnant daughter in the stomach.
"The police, they call for backup when they come up here to deal with her," said one neighbor who asked not to be identified. "They know who she is."
Anthony is being held without bond in the Westmoreland County Prison. Police said it's because she is a danger to others and herself.
isnt it enough that she made the headlines? do we really need to see the before and after pictures? what kind of woman beats another woman with her prosthetic leg? this woman sounds like a bad person. i'm sure shes bitter because as homecoming queen she never imagined that she would be living in a trailer. that can make anybody angry and on top of that shes a drunk. this spells classy for me.

Blind woman makes second bid for state acupuncture license

AUSTIN — A blind student of acupuncture is making a second request for a state license to practice the trade after being rejected last year because of her lack of vision.
The licensure committee of the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners was set to rehear Juliana Cumbo's request for a license on Friday. She would be the first blind person to be issued a state license, board members said.
"I wanted to be more involved in health care ... and I thought it was a perfect profession for a blind person," Cumbo said of her decision to pursue acupuncture, a method of diagnosing, treating and preventing illness by placing thin needles along specific points on the body.
The 31-year-old practices as a graduate intern in the student clinic of the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin. She has earned a master's degree in acupuncture and Oriental medicine and passed the national board exams.

i would want to see this woman only slightly ahead of the drunken nun with an eye patch and a bullwhip. a blind acupuncturist..........where will this go wrong.

Md. Judge Reprimanded for Calling Three Black Female Lawyers 'the Supremes'

A county judge was reprimanded for calling three black female lawyers "the Supremes" in court and advising the defendant to get "an experienced male attorney."
Washington County Circuit Judge W. Kennedy Boone has acknowledged that his comments suggested racial and sexual bias. In his written response to a complaint, Boone said he was trying to protect the three public defenders from representing a difficult defendant.
The Maryland Commission on Judicial Disabilities concluded the comments Boone made during a court hearing last April were "undignified and disparaging." The notice of reprimand was published Jan. 18 in the Maryland Register.
A stipulation by Boone and the Commission said that in June the judge offered to recuse himself from other cases the three attorneys handled.
Offering to recuse himself was the right thing to do, said Maryland Public Defender Nancy Forster, who filed the complaint in her official capacity.
Boone told the Herald-Mail of Hagerstown that he apologized to the three attorneys and that even though he offered to recuse himself, each has appeared in his court since the April case.
"I appreciate their acceptance of my apology," he told the newspaper Tuesday. He also said he had never before had a sanctionable complaint filed against him.
The defendant in the case pleaded guilty in June to assault and cocaine possession and was sentenced to eight years in prison.

he was right, you wouldnt be able to use the gender taunt against a man (though i guess the racial taunt might still be in play).

Conn. Man Nabbed After Marijuana Ad On Internet

STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) ― If you're looking to sell high-grade marijuana, Craigslist may not be the place to do it. A Bridgeport man learned that the hard way when the "buyer" who contacted him turned out to be an undercover officer, Stamford police said. Police said Steven Zahorsky, 24, posted an ad for "Mary Jane in Fairfield County." The ad offered a half-ounce of "A plus" marijuana for $220 and the same amount of "B plus" marijuana for $160. Stamford Lt. Jon Fontneau said officers spotted the ad and responded, claiming to be a painting crew interested in buying drugs during a work break. Zahorsky allegedly agreed to sell three-quarters of an ounce of marijuana at an Interstate 95 rest stop, Fontneau said. Police said they arrived Wednesday afternoon and called Zahorsky's cell phone. He answered and agreed to meet at the rest stop McDonald's in 15 minutes. Zahorsky allegedly stopped at the undercover officer's car and took $320 in cash in exchange for the marijuana, police said. When Stamford and Darien officers arrested Zahorsky, he claimed he was at the McDonald's to eat and had no idea why police were arresting him, Fontneau said. He said police found $320 on Zahorsky and the undercover officer's number on his cell phone. They searched Zahorsky's Bridgeport apartment and found three bags of marijuana and one bag of hallucinogenic mushrooms, along with a shotgun, ammunition and a digital scale, Fontneau said. Zahorsky was charged with several drug charges and released on $10,000 bond. He is due back in Stamford Superior Court on Feb. 13. No one answered the phone at a number listed for Zahorsky.

Man arrested for setting girlfriend on fire

ATHENS, Ga. --A man has been arrested after his girlfriend was doused in gasoline and set on fire.
Brenda Marie Sims, 27, was brought to the hospital Wednesday with burns to her mouth, nose and upper body, police said.
Police believe Sims and her boyfriend, Vernell Garrett, got into an argument because Sims would not give him money to buy crack cocaine. When she refused, Garrett got a can of gasoline, poured it on her and set her on fire with a cigarette lighter, police said.
Sims' shirt and bra caught on fire. She took them off, ran to a neighbor's apartment and was driven to the hospital.
Garrett, 38, was arrested in the hospital emergency room visitor's lounge after he showed up with the couple's two children. He has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and two counts of third-degree child cruelty.
"I haven't ever seen anything like it," Athens-Clarke County police Capt. Clarence Holeman said. "I have experienced people throwing hot water on people, but I hadn't actually seen someone set on fire. Obviously, Mr. Garrett has some serious problems."
Police leveled child cruelty charges against Garrett because the couple's two daughters witnessed the attack, police said.
Garrett had been arrested less than three months ago for fighting with Sims in the street. He was charged Nov. 27 with simple battery under the Family Violence Act and released on a $1,500 bond.
Sims was transferred Wednesday night to Augusta's Joseph M. Still Burn Center, where she received skin grafts Thursday, police said. Her mother took custody of the couple's daughters, police said.

what a unique way of breaking up. a simple call would have got him labeled as insensitive. this one needs a bullet to the head.

Sausage Man Arrested, Cart Towed From Dump

DERRY, N.H. -- A Derry man has been arrested for selling sausages at the town transfer station, after being ordered not to do business there.
The town administrator had told Thomas Souhlaris he couldn't set up shop at the dump. He was arrested Thursday on a trespassing charge and his food stand was towed away.
Souhlaris had been selling sausages, hotdogs and other food at a traffic circle, but moved to the transfer station last month when snowbanks started blocking his way. Town Administrator Gary Stenhouse said he was concerned about liability issues and the possibility of other vendors showing up at the dump.

can you really be that worried that other vendors will show up at the dump? it also begs the question...what does this towns market district look like that the dump seems like the place to go?

Woman Attacked With Cue Ball In Taco Bell Drive-Through

MASSILLON, Ohio -- A woman is recovering after being attacked while going through a Taco Bell drive-through in Massillon.
Police said another woman attacked Georgia Gugliuzza on Thursday morning, using a cue ball as a weapon.
Tiffany Brown has been arrested and charged in connection with the attack.
Gugliuzza's fiance, Frank Loder, said he is still in shock about what happened.
"It was unbelievable. I couldn't believe something like that could happen," said Loder.
According to police, after the women screamed at each other from inside of their cars, Brown allegedly got out of her car with a billiard ball inside of a sock and hit Gugliuzza with it four times.
Massillon Police Sgt. Thomas Minarcheck said he is baffled by the case and police are continuing their investigation.
"I don't understand how you can become that impatient while you're in line at Taco Bell," he said.
Police said it was that lack of patience that sparked the random and brutal attack.
They said Brown was mad at Gugliuzza for taking too long while she was ordering.
Loder said his fiancee lost a couple of teeth, had to get three staples in her head and sustained some bad bruises to her face.
Police said Brown was drinking the night of the alleged attack. She is currently in jail and is charged with driving under the influence and felonious assault.

the funny thing is that she had a cue ball in a sock in her car. thats a recipe for trouble, huh.

Coach suspected of relationship with player

A Desert Edge High School girls' coach has been arrested on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with one of her students over the past year, Goodyear police said Tuesday. Basketball and volleyball coach Susan Jayne Anderson, 28, was arrested Monday night at her home in Goodyear's Estrella community, police said. She is accused of carrying on an ongoing sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl she coached, police said."We believe that this started when the student was 15," said John Rowan, a police spokesman.

They were also communicating via the social networking Web site myspace.com • The victim reported the suspect had taken her home after sporting events and practices, and that they had kissed up to four times on those occasions.• The victim told police she had sexual contact with the suspect on Jan..20 at the coach's home.Anderson had coached for Goodyear's Desert Edge since 2004 and passed a background check when she was hired, according to Eleanor Andersen, an Agua Fria Union High School spokeswoman.Anderson also is a first-year fitness teacher at Centerra Mirage Elementary School in Goodyear, said Cathy Stafford, superintendent for the Avondale Elementary School district. Both districts said Anderson is on administrative leave. They said there is no history of similar complaints against her.Anderson is being held in a Maricopa County jail on $18,000 bond. Rowan, the police spokesman, said a family member became suspicious and contacted police. Detectives say there could be additional victims.

'Deadbeat Dad' Runs for Office in Chicago

An alleged Illinois deadbeat dad whose ex-wife says he owes more than $82,000 in unpaid child support is running as a candidate for Ward 47 Republican Committeeman in Chicago, MyFOXChicago reports.
Marie Karlin said she has been trying to locate her ex-husband, Gary Karlin, after he disappeared 14 years ago. He paid her child support for a few months, but after he took off, Marie's parents had to help support her and her now 16-year-old daughter.
Every few months, she would Google Gary's name to see if she could find him, and, last month, she was stunned to discover he was running for office under "conservative" values.
"I was in shock," Marie told MyFOXChicago.
If there's one vote Gary can't count on, it's one from his ex-wife.
"I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him," Marie told MyFOXChicago.

i find this to be typical of people with "conservative values". it almost never means they have conservative values they just want you to have them. hey, i hope he wins so she can go after him for the cash.

Sewickley Group Sends Super Bowl Losers' 19-0 Gear To Needy

SEWICKLEY, Pa. -- New York Giants Super Bowl XLII gear is flying off shelves, but what happens to the losing New England Patriots' merchandise?
Shirts, sweatshirts and hats, all printed with the Patriots as the Super Bowl winners, arrived at the World Vision warehouse in Sewickley on Tuesday.
Many of the shirts say "19-0" -- a reference to the Pats' quest for a perfect record. Instead, the Giants' victory ended the AFC champions' season at 18-1.
The losers' gear will be packed and sent to third-world countries by World Vision, which works to improve the lives of poor children in more than 100 countries.

doesnt living in a third world country make you a loser already? do these kids need the stigma of the patriots on them too?

Boy Gets Trapped In Bedroom Handcuffs

An eight-year-old boy had to be freed by firefighters after getting stuck in a pair of handcuffs he found in his mother's bedroom.Firefighters took the schoolboy to Copnor Fire Station in Portsmouth, Hampshire.
The crew had to use industrial metal cutters to free the boy.
The cuffs were described as made of "hardened steel" and not meant as a toy.Firefighter Dan French told Portsmouth's The News: 'The little boy came to the fire station with his grandmother and had the cuffs hanging from one wrist.
"Before we released him I asked if he was on the run from the police but he assured me he wasn't.
"And then his grandmother said he'd found the cuffs in his mother's bedroom.
"She immediately realised what she'd said and put her hand over her mouth.
"It's beyond my wildest imagination why someone would keep handcuffs in their bedroom!"

well its not beyond my imagination. in fact, my imagination runs wekk beyond handcuffs....but thats another story. lets just say that mom has so "splain'in to do".

Police: Crack Found in Man's Buttocks

HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) -- Police searching a downtown home found a man hiding 15 plastic bags of crack cocaine in his buttocks.
Pierre Lynch, 20, of Washington, D.C., was searched after he went to a home on Charles Street Thursday night.
Police had gone to the home after officers saw suspected drug dealing in the area, Sgt. Jim Robison said.
Lynch was charged with possession with the intent to distribute crack cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing and hindering and making a false statement to police officers.

Driving ban for 'look, no hands' policeman who raced past speed camera at 73mph with thumbs up

A policeman was banned from driving yesterday for a crazy 70mph stunt during a 999 call in which he took both hands off the steering wheel to give a thumbs-up to a speed camera.
PC David Mayes, 34, repeated the performance just over an hour later on a second emergency call.
He posed twice to the same camera in a 40mph built-up area, the first time driving at 68mph and the second, 73mph. The married father of two has been removed from frontline duties but is still in his job, though he faces an internal inquiry and could be sacked.
Last night road safety campaigners expressed outrage at his behaviour.
Lorna Jackson, of the charity Brake, said: "It goes to show that the culture of excessive speed and disregard for the lives of others extends to some police officers - many of whom regularly work with the tragic consequences of such behaviour and should know better.
"This man's actions have undermined the good work that the vast majority of police do."
Mayes, a police officer for eight years, was driving with two different colleagues when he answered the 999 calls in Sheffield in the early hours of July 26 last year. The first was in relation to an abandoned car and the second to the theft of some lead.
"He was legitimately driving at these speeds," prosecutor Malcolm Christy told Halifax magistrates. "It's the lack of care, not the speed. On both occasions his hands are off the wheel."
Tom Nutter, defending, said his client was full of remorse. "It was an episode of complete stupidity and his behaviour was wholly uncharacteristic," he said.
"His actions not only impact on his standing but on the South Yorkshire Constabulary and the police service as a whole."
The magistrates heard that Mayes was given three points on his driving licence last year for speeding off-duty. Yesterday he was banned from driving for for six months and fined £400 after admitting two charges of careless driving.
Magistrate Andrew Entwistle told him: "You exhibited a blatant disregard for the safety of other road users." Claire Armstrong, of Safe Speed said: "How fortunate for this officer that nothing worse came of this. Such behaviour from a policeman, to whom we should be able to look up and respect, only increases the already floundering respect with which the public perceive the police."
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "His conduct fell well below what we and the public expect and he now faces misconduct proceedings. This type of behaviour will not be tolerated." Wyo. cops: Food fight fries are missiles

LARAMIE, Wyo.—Three 13-year-old girls accused of throwing french fries during lunchtime at their school were cited for "hurling missiles," an adult infraction covered by city ordinances.
more stories like this
The principal of Laramie Junior High and a police officer had warned students during an assembly the day before the french fries' launch that if they threw food, they had to suffer the consequences, Police Chief Bob Deutsch said. The warning came after school officials had heard rumors of an impending food fight.
"They saw it as really the planning of a riot, when you think about it," Deutsch said. The girls decided to test the warning, he said.
"It wasn't a spontaneous thing -- a couple of kids giggling, throwing a french fry at each other," Deutsch said. "They intended on getting everybody involved in this and starting something that no doubt would have the potential of getting out of control."
Now, some observers are saying police and school officials went overboard, and even the American Civil Liberties Union weighed in.
"It certainly seems that this was an overreaction to a situation that could have been handled differently," said Linda Burt, Wyoming director of the ACLU.
The girls were also suspended for three days.
City prosecutor Ashley Castor didn't return phone messages left Thursday and Friday. Principal Steve Hoff declined to comment, and schools Superintendent Brian Recht did not return messages.

Teens Unremorseful After Stealing From Girl Scout

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. -- The State Attorney's Office will decide whether to charge two teens who admit they robbed a 9-year-old Girl Scout selling cookies outside of a Boynton Beach supermarket.
"I thought that it was a really mean thing to do, and I was sad after," Girl Scout Gracie Smith told WPBF News 25.
Authorities said that a 17-year-old girl in a hot-pink sweatshirt approached Smith outside of a Winn-Dixie supermarket at Hypoluxo and Jog roads in Boynton Beach Wednesday evening and asked the girl what her favorite cookies were. Police told WPBF that, while Smith was telling the teen about her favorite Cinna-Spins, the teen snatched an envelope containing about $167 off of Smith's table, hopped into another teen's car and drove away.Smith told WPBF that she turned to her mother in tears, saying, "Mommy! That girl took all my money!"
Authorities said they caught up with the 17-year-old girl Thursday and pulled her out of class at Park Vista High School, where she allegedly confessed to the crime, WPBF reported. Investigators said the girl's female accomplice, another a Park Vista student, also confessed.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said that the case has been handed over to the State Attorney's Office to determine if charges will be filed against the teens.
Smith's mother, Charlene Rubenstrunk, told WPBF that the girls returned to the store Thursday to taunt her daughter.
"They are within 10 feet of the same kid they just robbed last night and there is nothing anybody can do about it. I find that offensive," Rubenstrunk said.
The girls, whose names are not being released because they are minors, told WPBF that they were not remorseful for the crime, and that they did it because they "needed money."
"We went through all that effort to get it, we got all these charges and we had to give the money back. I'm kind of pissed," one of the girls told WPBF.
The other girl told WPBF that she was upset because police found them.
"I'm not sorry, I'm just pissed that I got caught," the girl said.
Money collected from the cookie sales were supposed to go toward Smith's sleep-over trip with Troop 664 to the Miami Seaquarium. Police were unable to recover the stolen money, but a father of one of the teens accused in the crime paid the money back to Smith's mother, WPBF reported.
Authorities said the teens were not charged because they did not use force to steal the money, nor did they take the money from the Girl Scout’s hands.
The State Attorney's Office will decide if the teens will be charged.
The Winn-Dixie supermarket is donating $200 to the troop, WPBF reported.

sure theres something you can do. you can beat the shit out of the girls. hell, they have it coming. if it was my daughter i'd make her stand there and sell the cookies with the girl and then take any money the little bitch has and give it to the girl scouts. she might think twicew about being an asshole then.

Torrance woman charged in teen sex

A 38-year-old Torrance woman has been accused of having sex with a 16-year-old boy on five occasions last fall, authorities said Thursday.
Brenda Ann Mitchell was arraigned last Friday in the Torrance courthouse on five felony charges - one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor more than three years younger than her and four counts of oral copulation with a person under the age of 18.
Mitchell was ordered to return to court Feb. 8, when a date will be set for her preliminary hearing. She remains in county jail in Lynwood on $200,000 bail.
Torrance police spokesman Dave Crespin said Mitchell was taken into custody Jan. 23 when she came to the Torrance police station at the request of investigators.
"During the first week of December we received an anonymous call regarding an adult having sex with a minor," he said. "After gathering some information, detectives contacted the possible victim, who was a male juvenile. Through our investigation we determined a crime did occur."
Prosecutors allege Mitchell initially had intercourse Sept. 21 with the unidentified Torrance teenager and then engaged in oral sex with the boy later that month, in October, again in November and finally during the first
12 days of December. "At this point in the investigation we strongly feel this is the only victim," Crespin said.
Authorities did not disclose how Mitchell, a petite blue-eyed blonde, and the boy knew each other. We're not going to get into the actual particulars of the case," Crespin said. "We're just going to wait while it goes through the judicial process before we talk about it publicly."
Mitchell's attorney did not return calls seeking comment.
Torrance police declined to release a booking photo of Mitchell.

A quick fix for outdoor smokers

NIPPING out for a quick smoke is about to become even quicker. Philip Morris, the tobacco giant, is planning a “snack-size” cigarette for the smoking-ban age.
The compact cigarette will be shorter than existing brands but just as smoky: it will deliver the same potency while taking less time to puff.
Marlboro Intense is designed to appeal to employees who are forced to take quick outdoor cigarette breaks while at work, often in cold weather.
Philip Morris will test the cigarette in Turkey but believes it has worldwide potential, with more than 50 countries now having bans on smoking in public places. The cigarette, which is 7.2cm long, compared with the normal 8.5cm, may offer some solace to smokers who face an even colder trip for their breaks if MEPs have their way.
Last week, as part of the battle to combat climate change, MEPs demanded a ban on patio heaters, which many outdoor smokers rely on for warmth at work or while socialising.
Stephen Pound, the MP who voted against the ban and then stopped smoking the next day, said: “The desperation of the smokers knows no limits; it’s only matched by the desperation in Philip Morris trying to corner the market.”
A spokesman for Forest, the pro-smoking lobby group, said: “The real pity is that smokers have to be rushed at all because people enjoy the sensation of having a cigarette.”

thank you to the good people at phillip morris. some people dont think that they care about people but they do. not only have they made a smaller cancer inducer....er.......cigarette but the increased the nicotine. congrats to smokers everywhere....enjoy your cancer.

Why wearing stilettos could boost your sex life

Wearing stiletto heels can be good for a woman's sex life, a new study has revealed.
Experts have discovered that wearing the high heeled shoes tones women's legs and strengthens pelvic muscles - decidedly improving a woman's love life.
The study said that the heels "directly work the pleasure muscles which are linked to an orgasm".
In the past stilettos have been blamed for stress factures and joint pain but now is seems that the pain may be worth the gain.

Urologist Dr Maria Cerruto, based at the University of Verona, in Italy carried out a series of tests and research on women who wore high heels.
She discovered that wearing a pair of "moderately high heeled shoes" had beneficial effects for a woman's sex life.
Dr Cerruto said: "I adore high heeled shoes and I wanted to find something positive about them and in the end I achieved my goal.
"The heels influence and work the pelvic muscles and reduce the need to exercise them.
"We now hope to prove that wearing heels during daily activity may reduce the need for pelvic exercises that are necessary to keep that part of a woman's anatomy toned and elastic."
The study involved 66 women under the age of 50 and questions were asked of their sex lives, their exercise lifestyle and their high heels.
Results were published in the journal European Urology and involved measuring electrical activity in the pelvic muscles of women when they held their feet at different angles.
Dr Cerruto discovered that women who held their feet at a 15-degree angle to the ground, the equivalent of a 7cm [2in] heel, showed up to 15 per cent less electrical activity in their pelvic muscles.
The results suggest the muscles are more relaxed when women wear higher heels, increasing their strength and ability to contract.

i often wonder how many people could be helped with the money that is spent on stupid studies. you didnt need a study, all they needed to do was ask me. as a matter of fact , from now on, just ask me. if i dont know the answer then you can have the study.

Teen faces WMD charge after plastic egg explodes

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) — An 18-year-old Elizabethtown man is charged with possessing a weapon of mass destruction and other offenses over a plastic egg explosion.
Police say he ignited a plastic egg filled with plastic air-gun pellets in a flea market, hitting at least five people and causing alarm. It happened Saturday afternoon at a Saturday's Market in Londonderry Township, Dauphin County.
Peggy Beckley, the vendor manager, says market employees chased the man into the parking lot and held him for police.

In addition to the weapon of mass destruction charge, the teen was charged with risking a catastrophe, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and simple assault.

what ever happened to the days when the cops would just take an asshole behind the shed and kick his ass for doing something stupid? ok, i get it, its post 9-11 but common sense needs to be used. this kid just needs some common sense beat into him.

Hillarys health plan

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to garnish the wages of workers who refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans. The New York senator has criticized presidential rival Barack Obama for pushing a health plan that would not require universal coverage. Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed on ABC's "This Week," she said: "I think there are a number of mechanisms" that are possible, including "going after people's wages, automatic enrollment."

i like the idea of universal healthcare but this plan would suck. lets see, lets take people who are struggling to make ends meet, that cant afford healthcare and then garnish their wages. someone tell me where this makes sense.......

Obama: Decriminalize pot

Last fall during a nationally televised presidential debate, Sen. Barack Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare that he opposed decriminalizing marijuana.

But as a candidate for the U.S. Senate four years ago, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students that he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, according to a videotape of a little noticed debate that was obtained by The Washington Times.
"I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws," Mr. Obama told an audience during a debate at Northwestern University in 2004. "But I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana."

Asked about the two different answers, Mr. Obama's presidential campaign said he in fact has "always" supported decriminalizing marijuana as he answered in 2004, meaning the candidate mistakenly raised his hand during the presidential debate last fall.
That position leaves Mr. Obama as the lone presidential candidate among the four leading challengers in either party who supports eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana. Mr. Obama's chief rival for the Democratic nomination, Sen. Hillary Clinton, opposes decriminalization, Clinton campaign spokesman Phil Singer said.

On the Republican side, Kevin Madden, spokesman for Mitt Romney, said the former Massachusetts governor is "not in favor of legalization of marijuana, and that includes medical purposes."

i knew there was a good reason for me to like obama. on the other hand i'll bet that if one of mitts kids needed medical marijuana he wouldnt be able to vote for decriminalization fast enough.

Pope says some science shatters human dignity

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict said on Thursday that embryonic stem cell research, artificial insemination and the prospect of human cloning had "shattered" human dignity.
In an address to members of the Vatican department on doctrinal matters, Benedict said the Church had a duty to defend the "great values at stake" in the field of bioethics.
The speech was the latest in a series in which the conservative Pope has told his listeners that scientific progress should not be accepted uncritically.
Benedict, who headed the same department for years before his election in 2005, said the Church was not against scientific progress but wanted it based on "ethical-moral principles".
He said this included total respect for the human being as a person "from conception until natural death," and respect for the natural transmission of life through sexual intercourse.
Practices like freezing embryos, suppression of embryos in multiple pregnancies, embryonic stem cell research, the prospect of human cloning and artificial insemination outside the body had "shattered the barriers meant to protect human dignity", he said.
"When human beings in the weakest and most defenseless state of their existence are selected, abandoned, killed or used as pure 'biological material,' how can one deny that they are being treated not as 'someone' but as 'something,'" he said.
Such practices "questioned the very concept of the dignity of man," he said in the speech to the department known as the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Widespread interest in medicine by the general public, who get most of their information from the media, had made it even more imperative for the Church to take a stand, he said.
Embryonic stem cell research involves the destruction of embryos. Scientists hope to use stem cells to transform medicine, providing regenerative treatments for injuries and seeking new insights into diseases like cancer and AIDS.
Last year scientists reported they had tricked ordinary skin cells into behaving like embryonic stem cells.
The Pope said the Church "appreciates and encourages" research on stem cells that come from other parts of the body and do not involve embryos or their destruction.
He rejected accusations from critics who say the Church is an obstacle to science and human progress, saying growing concern about cloning and other practices showed it was right to raise the alarm.
It was the Pope's latest foray into scientific issues. On Monday he warned against the "seductive" powers of science, saying it was important that science did not become the sole criteria for goodness.
U.S. Cardinal William Levada, Benedict's successor as head of the doctrinal department, said it was mulling the possibility of preparing a new Vatican document on bioethical issues.

hey, you know what shatters human dignity? a priest raping an altar boy, thats what. the church should lay off science and stick to enslaving people to a book of fiction. thats what some would call "playing to your strengths".

hey, you know what else shatters human dignity? concentration camps, thats what, which , by the way, our pope is familiar with (he, having worked at one in his youth).

NYPD Detective Arrested For Pimping Of 13-Year-Old

QUEENS (CBS) ― A veteran police detective and a woman who claimed to be his wife were both placed under arrest Wednesday, accused of keeping a 13-year-old girl locked up inside their home and forcing her to work as a prostitute at parties around the city. He's a 14-year veteran of the NYPD, and now Det. Wayne Taylor is under arrest for allegedly forcing a 13-year-old runaway to sell herself to strangers. Police say Taylor and his girlfriend, Zelika Brown, ran the alleged prostitution ring out of their Queens home. Neighbors are in utter disbelief. "It happened secretly, and it's a true disappointment, a real true disappointment," said neighbor Siri Fernan. "I never noticed anything, everybody keep to themselves, there are a lot of young people living here," said Monique Riggins. According to police, an unidentified Brooklyn pimp sold the 13-year-old to Brown for $500. To pay off the debt, sources say, Detective Taylor and Brown arranged parties at Queens locations, including a Holiday Inn at JFK Airport. Police say the 13-year-old was forced to perform sexual acts on approximately 20 men for $40 to $80. Commissioner Ray Kelly believes the NYPD veteran played a vital role. "We believe he was involved in the operation as well as protection for the operation," said Kelly. According to prosecutors, Taylor warned the 13-year-old victim that his home had an alarm system and if she tried to escape he would be notified. While holding the girl against her will, Zelika Brown chastised her for not earning enough money and slammed her head into the floor, prosecutors said. Taylor told the victim that if she failed to earn more money or tried to leave the home, he would force her to work as a prostitute on the streets, prosecutors said. He told the girl an alarm on the house would alert him if she tried to leave, they said. The girl escaped to her family, who took her to a police precinct, police said. A third person, 18-year-old Krystal Tudy, who also allegedly worked for Brown as a prostitute, was arrested on charges of promoting prostitution, assault and endangering the welfare of a child, prosecutors said. The teen is accused of slapping the 13-year-old, at Brown's direction, for talking too much to customers and punching her, giving the girl a black eye, prosecutors said. Taylor and Brown were both arrested and charged with kidnapping, promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a minor. They were released late Thursday afternoon.

i guess all the free doughnuts just werent enough for this guy. prison is going to be fun for an ex-detective. i'm sure there are some convicts there who would love to speak to him.

Sexual offender arrested; girl found

Waukesha - Police executed a search warrant at the home of a registered sex offender only to find a 14-year-old girl under the covers in a locked bedroom wearing a dog collar, according to a probable cause document filed Wednesday in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

The same girl, wearing a dog collar and an attached leash, had been found with Scott E. Ziegler, 37, on Jan. 18 in a car after her mother reported her missing, the document says.
Court Commissioner Thomas Pieper found probable cause Wednesday to detain Ziegler, who is being held in the Waukesha County Jail on $100,000 bail. He has not been charged.
Ziegler is accused of harboring runaway girls and giving them drugs and alcohol in exchange for sex at his residence in the 2000 block of MacArthur Road since November.
Ziegler worked at or owned a retail store called Twisted in downtown Waukesha this past summer, Waukesha police Capt. Mike Babe said. The store attracted young people, and knowing he is a registered sex offender, police were watching the situation, Babe said. The business closed in the fall.
Police executed the search warrant Monday after learning that the girl had run away.
a dog collar and a leash? lock him up and throw away the key. no better yet just take him out in the woods and put a bullet in his head.

Mom, 11, an 'extremely sad' case

The baby's birth at University Hospital on Nov. 4 was routine.
What wasn't routine was the fact that the infant's mother was just 10 at the time, impregnated by her mother's boyfriend.
Now, social workers are trying to figure out how to unravel the mess involving one of the youngest children ever to give birth in Greater Cincinnati.
Prosecutors were in court Wednesday to discuss what to do with both children, the newborn and her now 11-year-old mom.
The court session in Hamilton County Dependency Court on Wednesday was primarily a status session on how the baby and young mother are doing.
At the same time, Lockland police were in Columbus talking to a convict whose DNA shows he's the baby girl's father.
Michael Chaffer, 40, is accused of impregnating his girlfriend's 10-year-old daughter, according to Hamilton County prosecutors.
The baby's birth set off an investigation by the Hamilton County Department of Job and Family Services and stunned social workers because the baby's mother is so young.

The baby has been taken from her mother and put in a foster home while the mother is now being taken care of by a relative. Her mother is not allowed to see the baby and can only see her daughter when supervised by social workers.
Lawyers jammed the courtroom Wednesday, representing the prosecutor's office and three generations of the family.
Authorities became aware of the birth after the girl, now 11, delivered the baby at University Hospital. Hospital officials notified JFS because the mother was so young.
The girl and the infant were allowed to remain in the mother's home while JFS investigated the case.
As JFS investigated, several relatives of the girl contacted the agency saying Chaffer sexually abused the girl for a "period of time."
The girl's mother was warned not to let any adult men in her Lockland home while caseworkers tried to track down the infant's father.
Prosecutors say the girl's mother ignored that order, and when a caseworker made a surprise visit to her Lockland home Jan. 4, they found Chaffer.
Two other men were eliminated as the baby's father before Chaffer's DNA was tested.
Paternity was not determined until Wednesday morning.
Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor Lee Slocum said Chaffer faces criminal charges for impregnating and sexually molesting a girl under the age of 13.
Lockland Police Chief James Toles said two officers were interviewing Chaffer on Wednesday in a Columbus prison, where he is serving a one-year sentence on an unrelated charge.
Sex with a child under 13 is considered statutory rape, a crime punishable with a life prison term.
The 11-year-old girl's mother is also under investigation, Slocum said, for allowing her daughter to be abused.
Job and Family Services workers can't remember a case in which a girl so young gave birth.
"Unfortunately, sexual abuse is pretty common in the cases we see," said JFS Director Moira Weir. "But it is highly unusual and extremely sad to see a case where a 10-year-old becomes pregnant.
"This is an example of why everyone in the community needs to be extremely vigilant about watching for the signs of abuse and notifying us through our 241-KIDS hot line," she added. "The sooner we can intervene, the sooner we can make sure the child is in a safe situation."
Hamilton County prosecutors want a court designation that the 11-year-old girl was abused. They allege the 11-year-old's mother failed to care for her by allowing Chaffer near her.
Prosecutors also want to take the infant away from the mother because the sixth-grade student is too young to care for the baby.
As she waited for the hearing to start, the child, who was wearing faded jeans and a T-shirt hoody with her hair tied into a ponytail, sat next to her mother. She chatted about school, music and Disney video games.
During the hearing, as prosecutors and attorneys discussed the case and the possibility that the 11-year-old could lose her baby, she wiped away tears with the palms of her hands.
At Wednesday's hearing, Magistrate Charles Milazzo determined the girl could visit her baby at least twice a week.
But he said the 11-year-old girl's mother may see her only if social workers can supervise the visits, and that she may not see the baby.
When the caseworker found Chaffer in the home Jan. 4 - a violation of JFS' order that no men be in the home - they arrested him on a charge of obstruction of official business.
Court records show Chaffer slammed the door on the officer and refused to open it.
Chaffer pleaded guilty to that charge the next day, which violated his probation on an earlier drug charge. As a result he was sent to prison for one year.
JFS immediately took the 11-year-old girl and infant from the home.
in their defense kentucky is right across the river. what a bunch of low lifes. lets start with the rapist. i hope he gets impregnated in prison (at least i hope they try). the mom, she sure knows how to pickem'. the girls dad is a convict and her boyfriend screwed her 10 year old daughter. a mother of the year candidate for sure. the girls dad is a convict....nuff said.
